a whole new life

Me and my David

We had our baby! The experience was unbelievable. . . yeah, I still can't really wrap my head around it. Can't believe this precious thing grew inside my body and now lives in this world.

I've been writing a long story about my labor, which I'll post at some point. I'm happy with my birth experience, which is nice because it's been a little rough since then. I'm not going to lie, this has probably been one of the most difficult weeks of my life. Nursing is not coming easily, going without sleep is definitely not fun. It's just hard, and I know people always tell you that, but it's totally different to live through it.

Which is not to say that this isn't also the greatest thing that's ever happened to me. I feel like I understand Love in a whole new way. For not only my son, but for my husband too. He has been a total saint.

More to come soon. . .

Congratulations! You both look beautiful. It does get easier. Okay, the sleep thing doesn't really get easier. But you do get sort of used to it and it doesn't last very long.

yaaaaaaaaaaaay you! you can do it, i know you can. ps. i am so hateful when i am underslept (and mornings in general), that is probably my worst fear thinking about being a new mom.

First, congratulations! I was so excited to read your tweet that you delivered your little one.

It is hard. It is so, so hard. The first six weeks were the worst for me. I know that sounds like such a long time now, but six weeks! Only a month and a half! Get through that and I promise you, it will start to get better.

I didn't have a ton of resources during my immediate postpartum time, and I remember how difficult it was. Please feel free to e-mail me--if you have questions or just want to vent a bit. I completely COMPLETELY understand what you're going through and I'd love to be there for you if I could.

HUGS to you, and please e-mail!

p.s. David is just BEAUTIFUL!

Hang in there...it gets so much easier. And don't be afraid to call a lactation consultant to help with nursing. I'll tell you from my experience, if nursing is going well then everything seems a lot easier!

Congrats! How exciting for all of you!! I hope and pray things get better for you too. If I had to base my nursing experience on the first week alone I would say it was horrible, but somehow, if you stick with it, both of you will probably learn to love it.
